Welcome to Black Fork Commons Mercantile and The Well Coffee Shop!!!  Though we are a new business in Shelby, we are not new to Shelby or business.  Our family is a second generation used car dealer.  Our father started Country Auto Sales in 1964.  We have been in the car business for about 57 years.  So why did we want to start a mercantile store and coffee shop???
Well, you see, from 1990 to 2006 we also traveled and sang gospel music as The Hall Family.  As we would go into small communities, like Shelby, it would break our hearts to see all the store fronts empty and we would talk about how sad it was to see the small towns so vacant.  One day we saw a "for sale" sign in the window of 24 West Main Street.  My wife said "let's buy it and help our own hometown".   So we did!!!  
We wanted to give back to our town, but what. . . . For centuries the town well was where people would gather to discuss everyday issues henceforth The Well Coffee Shop was born.  So come to The Well and read Shelby's great history on our mural wall then come inside and relax and enjoy a cup of coffee at the town well and shop at the Black Fork Commons Mercantile store.
